Chart Desktop

Installation Guide and Release Notes

This document combines the installation guide and release notes for Ravenbrook's Chart Desktop, version 2.0.

The full documentation is available here.

1   Obtaining and unpacking

This version of Chart runs on Windows XP and above.

Chart is available as a .ZIP archive. You can download the latest release of this version from http://chart.ravenbrook.com/downloads/chart-2.0.4/chart-2.0.4.zip. There's no installation process: just unpack the archive anywhere that's convenient to you.

Once unpacked, you'll find the following:

chart-2.0.4\
   chart.dll the Chart DLL
   examples\C\ a brief example
   include\ C header file
manual\ full documentation, plus supporting files
Microsoft.VC80.CRT\ runtime libraries used by Chart
   pyChart\ example Python interface
   release-notes\ this document
   samples\ some sample graphs

You'll find working with this document, and in particular the Python example, easiest if you keep all these files together. If you copy/move the DLL but not the runtime libraries, you may find that Chart doesn't run at allin which case see here.

2   Release notes

Release 2.0.4 is the first external release of Chart Desktop. In future releases, this section will contain a list of issues fixed since the previous release.

If you would like us to inform you when the next release is available, please write to us.

3   Troubleshooting

The key message is: if something's not working and you don't understand why, get in touch. We'll help you interpret the problem, and get a fix to you if the fault was inside Chart.

For further details, please see the full documentation.
